Bath Spa Uni “delivers high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for its students” and “consistently exceeds rigorous national quality requirements” according to the Teaching Excellence Framework.
The silver rating has been awarded to Bath Spa University for the maximum period of three years.
TEF was introduced by the Government to recognise and reward excellent learning and teaching. Its purpose is to help better inform students’ choices about what and where to study.
Professor Christina Slade, Vice-Chancellor of Bath Spa University said: “We are pleased to have been rated as Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework. We are in good company in this category alongside many other universities of similar size and academic approach to us.
This rating also demonstrates our commitment to putting the student experience at the heart of everything we do, especially through inspirational and innovative teaching.
There are three ratings that can be awarded: gold, silver or bronze. Universities are assessed against three criteria: teaching quality, learning environment, and student outcomes and learning gain.
Evidence is gathered from the National Student Survey (NSS), Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey (DLHE).
Bath Spa scored significantly higher than the benchmark in three areas:
- Teaching on my course;
- Assessment and feedback;
- Employment or further study.
According to the TEF Panel, Bath Spa University “achieves excellent outcomes for its students from all background with regards to teaching, and assessment and feedback. The metrics indicate very high levels of student satisfaction.”
The TEF awards were decided by an independent panel of experts including academics, students and employer representatives.
