Avon and Somerset Police has launched an appeal for witnesses and information following a road traffic collision this morning near Bath, in which a woman was killed.
Emergency services were called to reports of a two car collision on the B3139 near to the Emborough Lakes shortly after 8.30am.
One of the vehicles was in a hedge and the occupant trapped. She was released from the vehicle and given treatment at the scene, but sadly died shortly afterwards.
The occupant of the other vehicle, a man, does not appear to have been injured.
Police have said the road is expected to remain closed for some time, while collision investigators examine the scene, and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Officers would like to hear from any motorists who were in the area at the time of the incident, especially those who have dash-cam footage of the incident.
