Avon and Somerset Police are once again advising people, particularly the elderly, to be on the alert after an attempted distraction burglary involving a 95-year-old man and a bogus water company engineer in Bathford.
It follows a similar incident last week in Bathwick when a man claiming to be an electrician talked his way into the home of a 92-year-old man.
Nothing was stolen in either incident. The latest was on Saturday 9th January at around 11.30am.
The bogus official claimed he needed to check the water supply and asked for £45 cash up front.
He left when the owner became suspicious asked to call his boss.
He is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, well built and with brown hair. He was wearing a yellow reflective jacket with writing on the back.
Police were called and made a search of the area and carried out house to house enquiries.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in the area, or who has been approached by uninvited callers at home.
They should call 101 quoting reference number 5216005825.
