George Baylis punched the 46-year-old in the car park of the Kings Arms pub in Pilning during the early hours of Saturday 2nd March.

Scott was taken to Southmead Hospital where he died the next day due to a fatal head injury.

Baylis, of Redwick Road in Pilning, has been remanded in custody ahead of a sentencing hearing that will take place on Wednesday 29th May.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Almond, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “This incident has had truly tragic consequences and our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies go out to Scott’s family.

“We have updated them of today’s guilty plea and specially trained officers will continue to offer them support.”

Scott was a football manager at The Park Knowle FC and had played for clubs including Bath City, Clevedon Town, Yate Town and Backwell United, as well as Mangotsfield United (MUFC) which he captained in 2005.

In the wake of his death, tributes poured in including from MUFC and a memorial game was held at their Cossham Street ground on 17th March.

The Scott Hendy Memorial Fund – https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-scott-hendy-memorial-game – has been set up on GoFundMe to provide financial support to Mr Hendy’s family. More than £16,000 has so far been raised.
