Avon and Somerset Police carried out a drugs warrant at a bungalow in Pensford near Bath yesterday morning (28th January) and found a large cannabis factory containing around 300 plants.

A 59-year-old Bristol man has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis production and supply and is being questioned.

Officers, crime scene investigators and a team from the police’s Operation Viscount drugs unit spent the day dismantling the factory and taking away the cannabis plants and growing equipment.

Most rooms in the property had been converted for cannabis cultivation.

The electricity supply was diverted to power the crop’s growing lights and ventilation fans..

Sergeant Luke Keenan, who executed the Misuse of Drugs warrant, said: “This is an important discovery brought about by good policing and local intelligence.

“This was cannabis growing on an industrial scale and we have managed to prevent a large amount of the drug becoming available on the market.”

It is the second time in a week that Bath officers have closed down a cannabis factory, following a similar discovery at a house in the Twerton area of the city.

If you have any information regarding drug supply or cultivation in your community, call the police immediately on 101.
