Avon and Somerset Police have launched an investigation after a second human foot was found in undergrowth in the garden of a property on Weston Park in Bath yesterday morning.
Specialist crime scene investigators retrieved the foot and closely examined the scene after the discover at 11.20am.
Officers also carried out a search of the area as well as a neighbouring property as part of the investigation.
The discovery follows the earlier find in February of a human foot in Weston Park East, which backs on to Weston Park.
A comprehensive investigation into that foot was carried out by our major crime investigation team which reached the conclusion that the limb was more than likely to be an exhibit from a medical or educational establishment.
At this stage, detectives are linking the two finds due to the physical similarities and the close proximity of the locations at which they were found.
The same investigation team are looking into the latest discovery and the foot will be sent to the same pathologist to examine.
T/DI Paul Catton said: “We carried out a full and thorough investigation into the discovery of the first foot and the same will be done for this one.
“We will be looking to confirm beyond all reasonable doubt that the two discoveries are linked and if so, whether the most recent find offers any lines of inquiry which can be taken forward.
“Our earlier investigation exhausted all possible lines of inquiry and we were satisfied that no crime had been committed.”
