A former teacher in Bath, Timothy Snowdon, has been jailed following an investigation into indecent assaults involving a pupil at King Edward’s School in the 1990s.
The 60-year-old, who worked at the school on North Road, has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to twelve counts of indecent assault.
The victim, who is now in his 30s, first approached police to report the sexual assaults in 2013 and attended the hearing yesterday at Bristol Crown Court.
Snowdon was arrested in February 2013 regarding the allegations and following an investigation was charged in November 2013.
Detective Constable Andrew Palmer, the investigating officer, explained that Snowdon used his position of trust to take advantage of the student after encouraging him to take part in after-school activities.
Snowdon is believed to have retired from teaching in 2006 and went on to work as an athletics coach in Birmingham before returning to the local area in 2009.
The assaults took place over a period of four years in the 1990s.
In a statement, King Edward’s School said that they take their child protection responsibilities seriously and co-operated fully with the police investigation.
