Avon and Somerset Police have released CCTV footage of a man they’d like to identify following a serious sexual assault in Bath last month.
The victim was attacked by a man on Victoria Bridge Road at about 5am on Friday, 7th April.
Police are keen to speak to the man in the image as they believe he may have information which could help their inquiry.
The victim was attacked by a man of slim to medium build who was wearing a black hooded top, red baseball cap and a small rucksack on his back.
Detective Inspector Adam Bunting said: “The victim is being given regular updates and has been provided with all the specialist support she needs as we continue to carry out a comprehensive investigation into what was an extremely nasty assault.
“We know the offender, who could be in his mid to late teens through to his late 20s, was following the victim for some time prior to the assault.
“After reviewing CCTV we know he was in the Newbridge Road area of Bath at around 4.40am, near to the junction with Station Road and from there followed the victim for some time along Upper Bristol Road, past the junction of Windsor Bridge and along to Victoria Bridge Road where the attack took place.
“I appreciate the footage we’re releasing does not show the man’s face but I’m hoping someone might recognise his clothing and rucksack.
“Do you know who the man in the footage is? Did you see him in the Newbridge area of Bath in the early hours of Friday, 7 April? Or did you witness the incident on Victoria Bridge Road?
“Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant you might think it is, is urged to contact us immediately.”
A 30-year-old man originally arrested in connection with the incident has been realised with no further action taken.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5217076623.
