A 45-year-old man has been sentenced for what Bath magistrates described as a “terrible assault” on his partner.

Wojtek Franszak, of West Close at Whiteway, had admitted at a court appearance last month that he had assaulted her by beating on 23rd July.
He had been remanded on conditional bail until 15th December for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.
The court heard that during an argument, his partner mentioned wanting a separation. Franszak slapped her and pulled her by her hair.
The prosecution was evidence-led, as the victim did not make a statement.
Defending himself, Franszak apologised to the court for what he had done.
He was given a 12-month community order which includes a 90-day alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement and 10 rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) days.
The magistrates also ordered him to pay £85 prosecution costs and £114 surcharge.
