There are plans to build an additional retail unit at Walcot Service Station on London Road in Bath.

The Esso-branded station already has a forecourt shop with the proposed single-storey development aiming to strengthen the existing commercial use at the site, says applicant Rontec Service Stations 1A Limited.

The exact occupier of the proposed unit is not yet confirmed, but it would be for the sale of food and drink for consumption, mostly on the premises.

The proposed development would be within an under-utilised part of the site, says the application which has been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council.

It is planned in an area which currently provides three car parking bays; they would be lost but the proposed development would see an accessible parking bay created in front of the existing shop.

The planning reference is 25/04227/FUL and the deadline for comments is 17th January.
