Wales & West Utilities will begin work to upgrade gas pipes on the A4 Bristol Road at Corston next week.
The initial work, which begins on Friday 29th March, is due to finish on Sunday 14th April.
A further second phase of the project will be completed during the summer holidays.
The work has been planned in conjunction with Bath & North East Somerset Council and it has been agreed that two-way traffic lights will be in operation on the A4 between Stothert & Pitt RFC and Newton Bridge.
Wales & West Utilities’ Simon Lee, who is managing the project, said: “Working in conjunction with the council, we have planned this work during the Easter break to minimise inconvenience to motorists.
“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.”
