At their January meeting, Bath’s Beaufort Townswomen’s Guild members were joined by TV presenter Will Glennon who presented a cheque for £250 on their behalf to the charity Headway Bath & District.
The charity’s operations manager, David Maxwell, and development worker, Jessy Sweet, gave a short talk on the work of the charity which helped Will when he suffered a serious head injury.
Jessy said: “We are so grateful to Beaufort Townswomen’s Guild for raising this money. It will go a long way in helping us support local people with acquired brain injuries in their recovery and also to lead independent lives.”
She added: “Headway Bath provides specialist relief, cognitive rehabilitation, and support to adults who have suffered an acquired brain injury, along with their family and carers.
“We rely on donations such as this to continue providing the support for local people in their recovery journey so are very thankful to the Beaufort Townswomen’s Guild in their efforts in raising the money.”
Will said: “It was great to hear about the terrific work that Headway Bath do to help people with brain injuries, and to be able to present them with a cheque.
“The money raised will go towards them continuing their valuable service. As someone with personal experience of serious head injury I know just how vital Headway can be and my family will always be grateful for the support they provided.
“It was a pleasure to see the members of the TG group too who welcomed me so warmly and listened carefully to my talk. Always kind and friendly, I was honoured to be asked to be a part of their presentation.”
