The organisers of the Bath Carnival have announced that next summer’s event will take place on Saturday 15th July, taking over the streets of Bath with a large procession for the fifth year.
The free outdoor event will also see the return of the party in the park after it was cancelled this year due to funding cuts.
The announcement was accompanied by the release of this year’s official 2016 highlights video, sponsored by SunKissed Campervans, which was unveiled earlier this morning.
The first installment of official photographs will be published on the organisation’s Facebook page this weekend.
Stuart Shotton, Managing Director of Sun Kissed Campers, said: “This vibrant splash of music and colour on the streets of Bath is a wonderful addition to the City’s calendar.
“The carnival is Bath’s most inclusive celebration, providing much needed creative learning opportunities for our local schools and community. We’re proud to be a sponsor again in 2017.”
Another local business to sponsor the non-profit organisation early on is Radiance Wellbeing.
Roger Morrad, Managing Director of Radiance Wellbeing, said: “We couldn’t be happier to be involved with such a unique local event, the work Bath Carnival do all year round in our local community is so inspiring and its a pleasure for us to be able to support them and be a part of it.’”
As well as forging new partnerships with local businesses, the Bath Carnival team has grown too. Industry professionals are now working at management level to ensure next year’s event will be an even bigger success.
Jade Dunbar, Site Production Manager for Kenysham Music Festival, said: “I am really excited to be part of a project that places engagement in the arts within the local community so high on its agenda.
“Having seen the enthusiasm of everyone involved, I am sure that this event is only going to get bigger and better.”
Now in it’s fifth year, Bath Carnival has established strong links in the community, providing workshops in costume, dance and music to schools and community centers in the months leading up to the final event.
Plans are in place to develop the workshop programme in 2017, with larger scale costume making sessions and steel pan drumming workshops as well as Brazilian percussion.
