This coming Saturday, 4th August, residents across the village of Peasedown St John are being invited to take part in a monthly community clean up event.
Last year, local councillors Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan launched the clean up scheme where they invite villagers to join them on the first Saturday of the month to give a chosen street a tidy up.
Cllr Karen Walker (Independent) said: “Sarah and I both believe very strongly in community action and working with residents to help them make a difference in our village.
“Over the last few months, residents have contacted us about the excess amount of litter in and around the village and asked if we could do anything to help.”
The next clean up with be held on Saturday 4th August, 11.15am in Bath Road, Fosseway Close, Ashgrove, Bloomfield Terrace and Bloomfield Cottages.
Cllr Sarah Bevan (Independent) added: “We’ve organised many community clean ups over the years, and it’s always good to see residents joining in.
“People often feel a strong sense of pride and community spirit when they give their time up to do something for the area they live in.”
Anyone who’d like to go along should take gloves and any protective clothing they may want to wear. Karen and Sarah will provide litter pickers and rubbish sacks.
