Following months of requests by local residents to Peasedown St John’s councillors, a fingerpost has now been erected in the village to better help visitors find their way around.
Peasedown St John’s growth over the past 25 years has seen not only see thousands more residents living within the village’s boundaries, but more businesses and visitors in the locality too.
For several months, residents had asked B&NES Councillor Karen Walker (Independent, Peasedown St John) for signposts to be put up that clearly indicate where village amenities and landmarks can be found.
Karen said: “Peasedown St John is the largest village in the south of England with 7,000 people living here. Those residents have friends and families that visit, and we have a increasing number of people coming to use local businesses.
“Because of this we need clear signage as to what can be found, and where.”
A new ‘tourism-style’ fingerpost has been erected next to the junction between Braysdown Lane and Wellow Lane, funded through Cllr Walker’s Initiative Fund.
Karen added: “The new fingerpost directs people to the local shops, hospital, GP surgery and playing fields.
“Cllr Sarah Bevan and I will be looking at what other funding, over the next year, can be made available for other fingerposts around Peasedown St John.”
