The Birthday Buses scheme allows people in the region to enjoy unlimited free travel on buses throughout the month of their birthday.

The Metro Mayor is urging people with January birthday months and beyond to sign up to “Birthday Buses” at www.birthdaybus.co.uk.

Mr Norris said he “can’t wait” to use his ticket for unlimited free bus and WESTlink journeys across the 350-plus square mile network.

He said: “I’m proud of Birthday Buses – it’s a serious plan to get new passengers using our buses to help tackle the climate emergency and create a more sustainable bus network.

“It’s working as close to half of people who’ve used Birthday Buses say they’re more likely to use public transport in future. It’s also a great boon in this cost-of-living crisis.

“So for those with birthdays coming up who haven’t done so already please head to www.birthdaybus.co.uk today.”

People can still apply up to the 15th, and get a Birthday Month Bus Pass for the remainder of the month.
