End of life charity Marie Curie is encouraging residents across Bath to host a summer get-together with friends and loved ones to show their support for people with terminal illness.
The charity’s Blooming Great Summer fundraiser is about doing what you love, whether it’s showing off your baking skills and hosting a tea party, having a barbecue or dusting off some board games for a games night.
All funds raised from a Blooming Great Summer event help ensure that Marie Curie can continue to provide vital care and support for people at the end of their lives and their families across the South West.
Following a tough year for many, and with key fundraising events put on hold over the past eighteen months, Marie Curie has lost out on vital income.
Now that restrictions are beginning to ease, the charity is calling for local residents to come together and help those at the end of life get the care they need.
Riona Houghton, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Bath, said: “In these unprecedented times our fundraising activity has suffered a huge blow and we need people’s support now more than ever.
“Every penny from a Blooming Great Summer event will help us be there for more people and their loved ones when they need it most. And when you sign-up, I’ll be on hand to help make your event is as fun as possible.
“So, however you choose to get involved, have some well-deserved fun in the sun and help make a difference.”
Mel Giedroyc, TV Presenter and Marie Curie ambassador, said: “It’s a great excuse to get together with chums and celebrate the sunshine. Plus, you’ll be helping families facing terminal illness get vital care and support. Win-win.
“For my Blooming Great Summer, I’ll be having friends around for cake and a cuppa.
“Whether you’re firing up the barbeque or partying in the park, join me and throw a Blooming Great Summer bash for a blooming great cause.”
Before planning, make sure your Blooming Great Summer event can take place safely and within the latest Covid-19 restrictions.
