Bath & North East Somerset Council is holding a Give and Take day at Bathampton Village Hall this Saturday, 31st October, between 10am – 12 noon.

Give and Take days are an opportunity for residents to get rid of household items they no longer need and perhaps pick up something they need – it could be anything from plants, books, bric-a-brac, clothing or small items of furniture.

Everything is free and no money changes hands.

Councillor Martin Veal (Conservative, Bathavon North), Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “We’ve held these events at communities across the area and they are always very popular.

“This is the first one in Bathampton, my ward, and I would encourage local people to go along. It’s a great opportunity to get rid of items you no longer need or use and let others make good use of them, or to pick up something you might need.

“It’s a good way of picking up a bargain and avoiding waste.”

The Council’s waste services team will also be holding a recycling where you can get answers to any recycling queries and pick up a freebie.

Refreshments will be available to buy during the event, courtesy of Bathampton Pre-School.

Items that can be donated must be of good quality and in working order, and could include:

  • Books;
  • Toys;
  • Bikes;
  • Garden tools;
  • Kitchenware;
  • Bric-a-brac;
  • Furniture (which can fit inside a car);
  • Clothes.

Electrical items, cosmetics and food cannot be accepted at these events.

You can take anything away for free that you need or could use. You don’t need to give something to be able to take something.

The village hall is at 13 Holcombe Lane, Bathampton BA2 6UL – items can be dropped off from 9am onwards.

If you are a community group and would like to have a display or stand to promote your organisation at any of our Give and Take days please contact Hannah Oakley, Waste Campaigns Officer for more information – email [email protected]  or call 01225 394173
