Organisers of a Peasedown St John summer festival have thanked a local transport company for their support at Party in the Park, which was held in June.

The event featured live music, hot food, family entertainment, stalls and attractions.

Overall, more than 2,500 people took part in the 7-hour spectacular which has become a big part of village life.

Westfield-based Parker Transport SW Ltd provided one of their 44-tonne lorries as the central stage for the day, all in the name of a good cause.

Founded in 1981 by Kelvin Parker, the business transports goods all over the country and is a provider of employment for local people. This year they celebrated their 34th anniversary.

Last week, Party in the Park’s Joy Fraser, Karen Walker and Nathan Hartley visited their offices to thank business owners, Kelvin and Caroline Parker for their support.

Event Bookings Manager Karen Walker said: “We are pleased that Parker Transport SW Ltd supported us again this year. Kelvin and his wife Caroline were very generous in allowing us to use one of their trucks as our stage for the day, which over the last seven festivals has become a key focal point for all for the entertainment.”

Event Treasurer, Joy Fraser added: “Despite the recession some years ago and many local businesses struggling to make extra cash, Parker Transport SW Ltd provided their service free of charge.

“For this we can’t thank them enough and hope the three big boxes of chocolates we delivered to their office last week will be much appreciated over the Christmas break.”

Organisers have now started to plan next year’s event with the date and further details being released in early 2016.

Plans already include live music, entertainment, delicious cuisine, Peasedown’s ‘Great Village Bake Off’, the return of Peasedown Diamond cider and a special guest.
