Local residents are being given the chance to trek along one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Wall of China, to fundraise for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
The Great Wall of China was constructed over 2000 years ago and is the longest wall in the world.
Locals are being given the chance to step up and trek along it to support the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
GWAAC are organizing a major trek along the Great Wall of China in September 2018 to raise money to fund their life-saving service.
It will be seven and a half days long with 10,000 steps to climb. Not only will you have the opportunity to see one of the most spectacular sights in the world, but you will also get the chance to visit Beijing and tour Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.
The money you raise will go towards keeping the air ambulance flying – ensuring the crew can reach more people in desperate need.
The charity are holding two information evenings to give people the chance to find out more about the trek:
- Wednesday 29th March : The Huntsman, North Parade, Bath. 7pm – 9pm.
- Thursday 20th April : Bristol City Centre Marriott. 7pm – 9pm.
GWAAC Head of Fundraising and Marketing Emma Carter said: “This is a great opportunity to explore one of the world’s most impressive man made structures, while supporting your local air ambulance.
“Every year we have to raise £2.6million in order to stay operational and ensure that people who are seriously ill or injured across our region receive the best possible care. We can’t do this alone, and rely on people to support us.
“By taking on this challenge you will have a fantastic experience while safe in the knowledge that any money you raise will fund this service. If this sounds like something you are interested in come along to one of our open evenings to find out more. We look forward to seeing you there!”
From pre-hospital blood transfusions to roadside amputations or treating cardiac arrests, it’s the skill and dedication of the GWAAC Critical Care Doctors and Critical Care Paramedics that means one patient in five – a patient otherwise expected to die – survives.
