A special roadshow is arriving in Bath today, Wednesday 25th August, which will showcase equipment used to help youngsters with disabilities keep fit.
The event will feature play equipment including rowing machines, swing chairs, sensory light shows, mini-rodeos and gym apparatus.
Metro Mayor Dan Norris will be visiting the event in Odd Down, to see for himself the special play time ‘roadshow’ organised by West of England charity Gympanzees.
Mr Norris will join the family fun and meet Gympanzees CEO, Stephanie Wheen, to find out more about the charity’s future plans.
Gympanzees roadshows have been running throughout the summer in different locations, and now it’s the turn of children and young people in Bath with disabilities to have the opportunity to make the most of the equipment.
Dan Norris said: “The joy of play and exercise is etched on most of our memories from our own childhood.
“We also know how important it is in developing physical and social skills. Play centres are good places for parents and carers to meet and chat too, meaning the whole family can have a great time.
“Gympanzees looks such good fun, and I look forward to joining in.”
The charity’s sessions are a step on the road to its vision of creating a permanent fully-inclusive leisure centre, with play and exercise sessions for children and young people with sensory, physical, learning difficulties, special educational needs, and other mild to profound disabilities.
