A Jubilee-themed Captains Charity Day held at Lansdown Golf Club in Bath has raised thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West.

Despite soaring temperatures, 116 people donned fancy dress and took part in the 18-hole fundraising event on Friday 12th August.
Funds were raised for the charity’s Charlton Farm children’s hospice in Wraxall.
There were various activities throughout the day including a silent auction and raffle with prizes including signed sporting merchandise, experience days, rounds of golf at courses around the county and luxury weekend stays.
Margaret Ruxton, Lansdown’s Club Captain said: “A special mention goes to the best dressed Pageant members, Andy Matthews, Dave Howarth, Roberto Clark and James Flew who went the extra mile for their ‘Queens of Lansdown’ costumes which amused many.”
Participants also chanced their luck playing ‘beat the professional’, hosted by James Lee who raised £500 throughout the course of the day.
Heidi Roberts, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, said: “It was fantastic to see so many amazing people in their fancy dress, having fun and raising such an outstanding amount of money for CHSW.
“The team at Lansdown Golf Club had prepared for the event so incredibly and the day went better than expected.
“Every penny raised will help ensure that we can be there for local children and families and give them the vital care they so desperately need now and in the future.”
Lansdown Golf Club exceeded expectations by raising over £5,000 for CHSW, which will help to offer vital care to 204 children with life-limiting conditions and 217 bereaved families currently supported by the charity’s hospice.
