Organisations in Bath looking to run a project to protect the environment in their local community are being reminded that funding is available through their water and sewerage company, Wessex Water.
Wessex Water’s Watermark award has been providing grants to community organisations for almost 25 years to help fund new ponds, conservation areas, gardening resources, allotments, recreation facilities and many other projects that benefit the local environment.
Recently the Bath Society of Botanical Artists has received a Watermark award of £250 which went towards a museum exhibition called ‘The Art of Pollination: blooms, butterflies and bees’ to share their knowledge and expertise with others on nature and the environment.
Grants of up to £1,500 can be awarded to schools, parish councils, youth clubs, Guides and Scouts groups, environmental action groups or any other community organisation in the Wessex Water region with an environmental project in mind.
Marilyn Smith, group head of public and community relations at Wessex Water, said: “Our Watermark award is our way of protecting and enhancing the environment in the popular and diverse part of the country that we are based in.
“We are pleased to have supported so many projects over the years and hope that organisations continue to apply for funding.”
The Watermark award is run in conjunction with the Conservation Foundation and all applications are considered by a panel of experts chaired by co-founder, botanist and broadcaster, David Bellamy.
