Flooding across the local area last Friday, 13th January, saw crews from Bath’s fire station respond to several incidents to rescue people.
At 6.45am, firefighters responded to emergency calls regarding vehicles being stranded in flood water on Bradford Road in Bathford.
Upon arrival, crews found four cars and one van stranded in the water. Firefighters assisted eight people and moved the vehicles to a place of safety using their swift water rescue equipment.
At 10.43am, firefighters were called to Mill Lane in Bath following reports that floodwater had trapped people in a building.
Six people had to be rescued from business premises using the swift water rescue equipment and a raft.
Thankfully, nobody was injured.
In Keynsham, crews from the Hicks Gate and Bedminster fire stations responded to reports of people trapped on a boat due to rising floodwater shortly before midday.
When the firefighters arrived, they found that all persons had safely self-rescued onto dry land.
Due to the precarious position of the 38-foot boat and worsening floodwaters, crews secured the boat using rope and water rescue equipment.
