Drivers heading in and out of Bath are being warned to expect delays on a key route this week due to emergency water main repairs.

Wessex Water is carrying out urgent work on a damaged main near the bottom of Brassknocker Hill, below Claverton Down, from 9am on Tuesday 6th January 2026.

Temporary traffic lights are being installed on Brassknocker Hill and will be manually controlled between 7am and 7.30pm each day to help manage queues.

The repairs are expected to take up to three days to complete.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “This essential work is required to repair a leak and is taking place on Brassknocker Hill between the junction with Church Lane and the multi-way junction with the A36.

“The traffic signals are being manually controlled during peak hours and we have contacted local customers about this essential repair.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
