Staff at fire stations across the region, including in Bath, have launched a collection for new and nearly new toys for families that need them ahead of the festive period.
With many people finding Christmas difficult this year, firefighters from Avon Fire & Rescue Service wanted to make a difference for families in their local areas.
The collection scheme, which is entering its third year of running, has seen tens of toys donated by members of the public and fire service staff.
The staff at Southmead fire station in Bristol said: “We’re delighted, once again, to work with the Southmead Development Trust and organise a toy collection this Christmas.
“We recognise it’s been a difficult year for many, including the effects of the current Cost of Living Crisis, and we’re determined to do what we can do to support our local community.
“We hope that we can make a difference to those children and families that need it most this Christmas.
“As we did last year, we’ll be asking colleagues and members of the community to donate new or nearly new toys which we will clean, organise, wrap and label.
“We’d love for more staff to plan their own collection in their local areas and would be happy to help where we can.”
You can donate a toy at any time to the Bath, Weston-super-Mare or Southmead fire stations and they’ll be distributed to local families.
