Several streets in Peasedown St John have had their pavements resurfaced, thanks to a campaign led by the village’s Bath and North East Somerset Councillors.
Independent Councillors Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan have been calling for improvements to be made to walkways and footpaths in their community for a number of years.
Cllr Karen Walker said: “The way a community looks, its appearance and presentation is very important. We want our village to look clean, tidy and attractive for both those that live here and those that visit.
“That’s why we’re extremely pleased that after 18 months of lobbying B&NES Council on behalf of residents, Cllr Bevan and I have received this fantastic result.”
Over the last two months, the Local Authority’s Highway’s Department has resurfaced pavements in Albert Avenue, Frederick Avenue, Hillcrest and Idwal Close using ‘slurry’ – a mixture of cement, water, and assorted dry and liquid additives used in the petroleum industry.
The total cost of the project was £12,000.
Cllr Sarah Bevan added: “Investment in Peasedown St John is our top priority. Because Karen and I don’t belong to a political party we are able to campaign on the issues that matter to our residents, free from whips and party lines.
“The resurfacing of these pavements is now almost complete, with a few patches that need to be finished.
“Thanks to the residents who asked for these pavements to be resurfaced over the years.”
