Members of charity CLIC Sargent are celebrating after receiving £1,000 from Vodafone, after local store staff in Bath chose the deserving cause.
Thanks to the £1,000 award, the charity can continue to provide help and support for local children as well as young adults and their families, who are living with cancer.
CLIC Sargent was set up in 1968 to provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help children and young adults cope with cancer and enjoy the best quality of life possible.
Starting right from diagnosis, CLIC Sargent supports young patients and their families every step of the way – helping them to deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.
Tori Williams, Area Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, entered the charity for the award and said “I would like to say a huge thank you to the Vodafone staff at the store in Bath for choosing to support CLIC Sargent with this generous donation of £1,000.
“The donation will help CLIC Sargent provide vital support for children and young people with cancer, as well as their families. At Sam’s House, (a CLIC Sargent Home From Home) we are planning some refurbishments and will be needing new carpets and kitchen equipment.
“Vodafone’s donation will make a real difference to the families we are supporting”.
Vodafone’s Community Connection Awards, launched in 2014, have already made a difference to more than 45 local communities across the UK.
Selected by local Vodafone staff and aimed at supporting local causes, the awards have been used to help support everything from new equipment for soup kitchens and day centres for the elderly to helping people with disabilities to take part in sporting activities.
Jack French, Vodafone store manager in Bath said “CLIC Sargent couldn’t be a more worthy and deserving winner, their work truly makes a difference to the people in our community. We’re thrilled that we are able to help them.”
