Bath-based charity Mentoring Plus has launched an appeal for runners to take part in the Bath Half Marathon this September on their behalf.

The charity supports over 250 local young people each year with mentoring programmes, helping to inspire youngsters already facing difficult challenges.

The mentoring helps increase confidence, self-esteem and supports young people with mental health and wellbeing.

Mentoring Plus has seen a surged in demand for their services due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fundraising Manager Jenny Perez said: “The Bath Half is our biggest fundraising event of the year and due to a lack of community events if we don’t fill our places we will have no alternative but to make cut backs at a time when we are never more needed due to the impact of Covid.”

20 places are on offer, and runners will receive support from a running coach and have a chance of winning goodies such as a pass for the Themae Spa.

If you or someone you know is keen to take up the challenge and wants to support a local charity making a real difference to local children and young people’s lives, contact Mentoring Plus by emailing [email protected] or call 01225 429694.
