Emergency services were called to the scene just before 8.45am. The eastbound side of the bypass was closed between the London Road and the A363 Bradford Road at Bathford.

Traffic was temporarily stopped on the westbound carriageway.

Mill Lane, between Bathampton and London Road West, was also closed while collision investigators carried out an examination of the scene.

The roads reopened at around 2.30pm.

Avon & Somerset Police said the man’s next of kin had been contacted.

If you were travelling along the bypass at the time and have any dashcam footage or information which could help the investigation, call 101 and give the reference 5223039616.
