One of Bath’s celebrated mixed-voice choirs has received a boost of recognition thanks to the launch of a new website which helps people find suitable hymns for occasions.

The Bath Chorus was established eight years ago by Bath music man Grenville Jones, and has sung all around the country and supported many local and national charities.

Grenville told the Bath Echo: “The website www.hymnsearch.co.uk includes many well-loved hymns that would be suitable for special family celebrations or memorial services.

“It occurred to me that there must be many people around the English speaking world who, when faced with choosing a hymn for a family occasion, might struggle with that choice.

“Hymnsearch directs viewers to some lovely hymn choices which can then be seen on YouTube The words of each hymn also appear to further help in choosing an appropriate hymn.

“These are divided into choices for weddings, memorials or special celebrations.”

The Bath Chorus has just started back after its summer break. Rehearsals take place at St Bart’s Church in Oldfield Park on Monday evenings, and there is a simple voice test for new members.

“There is a warm invitation to anyone looking for a friendly mixed-voice choir in Bath. Come along and meet us,” Grenville added.
