It’s been a busy year for Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Film Office, with over 200 film days having taken place on productions ranging from Channel Four’s Four in a Bed to the BBC’s Sherlock.
To help strengthen the offer of the area even further, the Film Office is launching a new Film Friendly Partnership on Friday 13th November.
The idea behind the partnership is to bring together a range of locations and services that commit to providing a film-friendly service, taking into account the needs of local residents and communities.
The Council’s Film Office will use the partnership to promote Bath and North East Somerset to film makers and demonstrate the wide range of local businesses available to use while they are filming here.
Councillor Patrick Anketell-Jones (Conservative, Lansdown), Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “Bath and North East Somerset is a popular destination for film and TV crews, clearly demonstrated by the number of productions that film here every year.
“This helps boost the local economy and we want to ensure that local businesses and residents benefit as much as possible.”
Everyone signed up to the partnership will also be invited to a twice yearly meeting to network and discuss any issues arising from the filming that has taken place.
The launch is taking place at the Holburne Museum, one of the first organisations to sign up to the partnership.
A wide variety of businesses have already joined up from all over Bath and North East Somerset.
Ranging from locations such as the Victoria Hall in Radstock and Harptree Court in the Chew Valley (the original home to the Great British Bake Off), to businesses such as the Bath Academy of Media Make Up and the Bath Trike Company who will be arriving at the event on one of their trikes they’ve specially modified to work as a filming platform.
