The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is calling on local businesses to bring together teams of entrepreneurially-minded staff and join the new High Flyers Challenge.
The charity is asking teams to come up with the most exciting, innovative and downright different ways to raise money in support of the charity.
Teams will have 6 months to raise as much money as they can for GWAAC.
The charity has planned a series of events including a prestigious awards ceremony at the end of the challenge, which will be judged by a panel of well-known and respected judges from across the South West.
There is also the opportunity to visit the air base and meet their specialist crew; and the top prize for the challenge is a plane flight.
To launch the challenge, GWAAC are inviting local businesses to a free VIP networking event on 30th August 2018, at Bristol City Centre Marriott.
You will have the chance to network with other businesses across the city, meet the GWAAC team and find out more about what they have in store.
Holly Adlem, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for GWAAC, said: “The High Flyers challenge is a great way for businesses to make a lasting difference for a local, life-saving charity.
“Whilst we hope you will never need our service, we are here for every single person in the region – adults and children alike – to provide them with Critical Care when they need it most.
“By entering as a team, you will be fostering learning, development, team-building and entrepreneurial skills.
“What’s more, you’ll get dedicated support, and we’ll be putting on a series of networking opportunities and events throughout the challenge too.”
The launch of High Flyers coincides with GWAAC’s urgent appeal to help the charity raise the funds needed to buy their new air base, which will provide security for the charity, ensuring that they are able to continue to carry out their life-saving Critical Care work for the long term.
GWAAC’s current air base in Filton is one of the oldest in the country, dating to before the First World War, and is no longer fit for purpose.
Their current landlords are building a new air base in Almondsbury, and now have offered the charity the opportunity to purchase the new air base.
GWAAC is completely charity-funded, receiving no day to day funding from the Government or National Lottery.
They need to raise £1,250,000 to buy the base, which is why they are calling on businesses to support their local air ambulance and join the High Flyers challenge.
The GWAAC crew consist of highly skilled Specialist Paramedics in Critical Care, and Critical Care Doctors, all of whom have risen to the top of their field.
The team provide life-saving interventions such as blood transfusions at the scene of an incident, in affect they bring the specialisms of an Accident and Emergency Unit directly to the scene.
