Twenty three businesses in Bath rolled up their sleeves, dusted off their aprons and got busy in the kitchen to bake a cake for Comic Relief last week.

The Bath Business Bake Off brief was to bake a cake and decorate it in the theme of their business.

Cakes in all shapes and sizes were entered with a typewriter, a hairdryer and a pink bustier cake all featuring, overall the imagination and effort from all was impressive.

Every business who entered a cake gave a donation to Comic Relief. Together the businesses raised over £300 for Comic Relief.

The cakes were judged by Dan Moon, Head Chef at Ston Easton Park, Imogen Sellers of BBC Points West, Ben from Made by Ben, and Kitty Lambah of the Bath Women’s Institute.

Mayor of Bath Cherry Beath and Lady Margaret of the Natural Theatre Company were also in attendance to give their expert opinions and to award the prizes.

The winning cake was won by Dani Leroy of Nick Brain Hairdressing whose chocolate and almond sponge cake entitled Bad Hair Day won the judges over.

Dan Moon, Head Chef at Ston Easton Park said: “The standard of entry was really high, the bakers had all put in a huge effort and should all be commended.

“The winning cake was beautifully decorated, had excellent comedic value and importantly tasted great!”

Mayor of Bath Cherry Beath said: “It has been a joy to be involved with this event and I am delighted to see businesses in Bath pulling together to support Comic Relief.

“The judges were amazed by the quality of the entries, so many excellent cakes it was really very hard for the judges to choose, clearly we have a community of hidden bakers!”

Linda Donaldson, Director at Geometry PR who organised the event said: “I am amazed at the support the business community of Bath have given to our Bake Off.

“It has been a lot of fun and helped to raise some funds for a very good cause, I can’t thank them enough. We are already planning the next Bath Bake off event so watch this space.”
