Ben Howlett, the MP for Bath, has welcomed BT Openreach’s announcement that Bath will be one of first cities to benefit from new ultrafast broadband services.
Ben Howlett has been campaigning for a number of months to see better broadband services available in Bath.
He is due to meet senior representatives from BT Openreach this week in Bath to see if broadband services can be improved to both local businesses and residential customers.
Last week’s announcement that Bath is to be one of nine locations that will benefit from a new Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) product designed specifically for small and medium businesses, and offers speeds of up to 1 Gbps was warmly welcomed by Ben.
He said: “I have had a staggering amount of correspondence about poor broadband speeds from residents and businesses in Bath since being elected last year.
“I have been in regular contact with BT Openreach to see what could be done to improve the situation.
“I am therefore delighted that Bath will be one of the first cities whose small businesses, of which we have so many, will benefit from this technology.”
