Apex Hotels is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the opening of its property in Bath by revealing some interesting facts.

The hotel, which opened in August 2017, is located on James Street West.

Apex City of Bath Hotel appears to have visitors with a sweet tooth, as over the past five years, 750,000 sachets of sugar were consumed, equating to around 30 tonnes.

Guests also drank 37,703 litres of milk in that period. That’s almost 38 tonnes of milk, or enough to fill a double garage.

The hotel also served the equivalent of 222,255 double espressos, which equates to around 2.5kilos of coffee per day.

More than 84,000 English Breakfast tea bags have been used since opening, though that figure doesn’t include the tea bags available for use in the guest bedrooms and other varieties of tea.

The cast and crew of Bridgerton stayed at the Apex City of Bath Hotel during filming in the city.

As popular as tea and coffee may be in Bath, Michael Musgrave, the General Manager revealed his guests’ most requested beverages.

He said: “I won’t get into quantities, but let’s just say that our guests love sipping on something chilled and preferable sparkling. Prosecco is definitely the most popular drink in the hotel, followed by white wine and then beer.”

In addition to the cast and crew of Bridgerton, the hotel has welcomed many other famous faces in the five years it has been open.

Sir Bradley Wiggins, the cast and crew of the upcoming Wonka film and ITV drama McDonald and Dodds have also stayed.

Michael revealed the strangest request from guests, saying: “It has to be being asked for breakfast for 150 people at 2am!”
