People living and working in Bath are to be asked for their feedback on proposals to redevelop the former Bath College Allen Building into a new city centre hotel, with around 200 bedrooms.
Dominvs Group are proposing to redevelop the educational space, located on James Street West, to create a new city centre hotel including approximately 206 bedrooms alongside a café, restaurant and bar.
The scheme also has the potential to include gym facilities which would be open to all.
The Allen Building was sold to Dominvs Group after a review of Bath College’s estates strategy, in order to facilitate the future growth and development of the college.
Dominvs Group, a family-run property development firm which specialises in residential, hotel and commercial developments, purchased the site earlier this year.
If approved, this development will help Dominvs contribute to meeting the council’s Core Strategy to bring 750 new hotel beds to the city by 2029, thereby adding to the new leisure quarter for the city, whilst offering employment of up to 100 people in a variety of jobs across the sector.
Members of the public are invited to learn more at a public exhibition on Wednesday 6th December between 12pm and 8pm at the Roper Building Foyer, Bath College on James Street West.
The exhibition will allow people to view the plans and designs, and ask any questions they may have.
A spokesperson for Dominvs Group said: “We’re excited to be able to be in a position to bring forward proposals for the redevelopment of this site which we feel can make a valuable contribution to this growing leisure quarter of the city.”
“Bath is a city built on leisure and tourism and welcomes approximately 5 million visitors from around the world each year. If approved our proposal will help to meet the demands for tourist accommodation for many years to come.”
For those unable to attend, the consultation materials and feedback form will be available online at www.allenbuildingbath.co.uk from 6th December.
