The local and independent cake company Bath Cake Company recently took home five awards for cakes entered at the Cake International event at the NEC in Birmingham.
Earlier this month, cake artists tentatively took their cake creations to the UK’s leading cake decorating, sugarcraft and baking show at the NEC in Birmingham.
Cake International runs three times throughout the year, and this Autumn four members of the team at Bath Cake Company entered the show across various categories of cake decoration, picking up four Bronze Awards and a Silver Award between them, the youngest member of the award winning team being just 19.
With tough competition in all award categories and over 1000 entries, Celia Adams, Managing Director, was awarded with a Bronze for her wedding cake, adding to Bath Cake Company’s extensive list of Sugarcraft and Baking Awards.
Celia said: “I’m so pleased to have been awarded a Bronze at this year’s Cake International and so proud of the Awards won by my team.
“The standard was so high in not only the wedding cake category, but across all categories. The show is a brilliant testament to the talent of sugar artists in the UK and across the world.”
Along with entering the competition, Bath Cake Company’s Decorating School also offered its students the opportunity to display their cakes as part of a Student Table at the event.
This year, Celia and the students chose the theme of Remembrance Sunday, creating pieces that showcased their skills learnt during their classes with Bath Cake Company including making sugar models and sugar flowers, carving and covering cakes, and hand painting designs.
Celia concluded: “The standard of work on Bath Cake Company’s Student Table was so high and I couldn’t be more proud of our School’s students.
“Each student worked really hard to create a piece that not only showcased their talents, but paid tribute to Remembrance Sunday. Well done to everyone involved.”
