Eligible businesses within Bath’s city centre are being urged to use their vote to endorse a further five years of investment in the Bath Business Improvement District (Bath BID).
The ballot opened on Friday 2nd October and closes on Thursday 29th October.
A postal ballot has been issued to all levy payers, plus a copy of the BID’s business plan which lays out the detail for funding new and existing projects vital to the continued economic vibrancy of Bath.
Jonathan O’Shea, Interim Chief Executive for the Bath Business Improvement District explained how the business plan outlines a strong vision for the future which builds on what has been undoubtedly a very successful first five award-winning years.
“Since its inception, the Bath BID has focussed on three areas of operation; Management of the city centre, including cleanliness and the night time economy; Promotion of the city through marketing and events; and saving businesses money, for example the trade waste scheme which in many cases has paid back the cost of the levy.
“All of the initiatives the BID has funded and championed can be clearly mapped back to the original business plan objectives, and this is both the measure of success and the justification for a second term of delivery.
“Businesses which have actively engaged with the BID have been inspired to think beyond the silos of their own business activities and work together for the greater good of the city.
“In this way the BID has delivered success that truly is a case of ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’.
“Bath is currently enjoying the Great Bath Feast, which is arranged in collaboration with Bath Tourism Plus, and the city is currently full of visitors enjoying over 120 events throughout October.
“Most cities can only dream of attracting such interest during a normally quiet month for many businesses across the UK.
“Through the Great Bath Feast the true extent of the BID’s value is on full display, and without the collaborative contribution of business supported by BID funding, these events would not be possible.
“I would urge all businesses to show their support for the Bath BID and to vote ‘yes’ for a second fiver year term.”
