Bath Abbey is hosting a concert in celebration of the Book of Common Prayer on Thursday 4th September, from 7.30-9.30pm, performed by a talented Edinburgh Fringe trio.
It will be performed by the talented trio of ‘In Voice and Verse’ who come to Bath straight from glowing reviews at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Featuring poetry and music, the evening will help bring to life the words and remarkable language of the Book of Common Prayer.
Soprano Belinda Yates and pianist Heather Chamberlain will provide a selection of music including Handel’s ‘Come unto him’, John Ireland’s ‘It is a thing most wonderful’ and Charles Villiers Stanford’s ‘Te Deum’, while actor Lance Pierson will perform examples of the Prayer Book influencing life and thought over the centuries.
Jeff Jupp, Chair of the Friends of Bath Abbey who are sponsoring the event, said: “The Book of Common Prayer is a huge part of the English language, not to mention our daily lives.
“For many, it is a companion to the milestones of life, from birth through to adulthood, when we get married, as well as in illness and death.
“It will be a fantastic way to celebrate the journey through life and comes highly recommended from the Prayer Book Society who describes it as: “A delight from start to finish”.
“Do join us for what will be a thoroughly entertaining evening promising pathos as well as lots of music and laughter.”
‘From Time to Time’ at Bath Abbey will start at 7.30 pm (Doors open at 7pm) on Thursday 4th September.
Tickets (include drinks and a programme) cost £15 and are available from the Bath Box Office and on the door.
The event is sponsored by The Friends of Bath Abbey with proceeds going towards the Abbey’s Footprint project.
