Bath’s Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams has been announced as a new presenter for Channel 5’s The Gadget Show.

Channel 5 unveiled their new presenter for the popular technology show yesterday, with the announcement that Amy will be joining Jason, Jon and Ortis when the show comes back in the autumn for their new series.

Amy Williams scooped gold in the Skeleton at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and has since extended her winning streak to the small screen, appearing on Ski Sunday and as a commentator for BBC Sport at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

She said: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at The Gadget Show and can’t wait to get stuck in testing the latest technology on the market.”

Amy replaces Countdown’s Rachel Riley, who is leaving The Gadget Show after three series.

Guy Davies, the commissioning editor for factual programming at Channel 5, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Amy Williams to The Gadget Show team and I’m sure our audience will take to her immediately.”

“I would also like to thank Rachel Riley for doing such a sterling job and wish her the best of luck for the future.”

Executive producer Ewan Keil said: “We are really, really pleased that Amy is joining us. I know she will relish our more extreme challenges and will get stuck into everything we throw at her. Happily, she also brings a great deal of technical knowledge to the show.”
