A recent report has shown that company formation numbers in Bath are continuing to rise, with a record number of businesses started in the city last year.

Recent research from Duport has shown that company formation reached an all-time high in Bath during 2013.

Over the 12 months, there were 920 new companies formed – more than any other year on record for the area and 11% higher than the previous year.

In further good news for the area, net company growth (the number of company formations minus the number of company closures) also rose over the course of the year, as did the UK company share of Bath.

Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said: “The positive figures we are seeing in Bath are a testament to the resilience of the local economy.

“Its unique character and popularity as a tourist destination have helped it through some tough economic conditions, and I have no doubt it will continue to prosper in years to come.”
