Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A368 at Chelwood to the west of Bath.

It happened at 6.50am yesterday (20th July) and involved a car and a motorcycle.

A silver coloured Audi A4 was travelling from Blagdon towards Chelwood Bridge when it was involved in a collision with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist received life threatening injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police officers are keen to speak to the driver of a Ford Kuga, which is believed to have been on the A368 at the time of the incident, who could have useful information to help our enquiries.

Police would like the driver or anyone else that has any information to help our enquiries, to contact the collision investigation unit on the force number 101.

The 31-year-old driver of the car failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

He has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

A tricky road to drive even if you’re sober.
