The Roman Baths, one of Bath’s most popular attractions, has been rated one of the top twenty most-loved museums in the UK, in the November 2012 “Which? Travel” report.
Scored on a combination of seven different aspects of the customer experience, the Roman Baths received an overall satisfaction score of 82% and was the only museum in the South West to make it into the top 20. This was ahead of such well-known national museums as the Natural History Museum, Tate Britain and the Science Museum in London.
The Roman Baths – which narrowly missed out to the British Museum in the Art Fund Museum Prize 2011 – was the only local authority-run museum to feature in the “Which?” top 20. The overall winner of the survey was St Fagan’s National History Museum in Cardiff, with a score of 93%.
“Which?” asked 4,239 members of its “Connect” online panel for their views on the UK visitor attractions that they had visited in the past two years, and the survey results are drawn from the 3,973 people who responded saying that they had visited a museum or art gallery.
The overall customer satisfaction score included marks on visitor entertainment, the quality of the information provided, the quality of general facilities, staff helpfulness, accessibility, the length of queues and the gift shop. The likelihood of visitors to recommend the museum was also taken into account.

This survey shows the success of this approach and I wholeheartedly congratulate the whole team for providing an experience that is rated so highly by visitors.”
