Fans of audio books are invited to discover the science behind the art with a free event at Midsomer Norton Library on Tuesday 26th June.

At the “Once Upon A Time” talk, from 7pm to 8pm, narrator Gordon Griffin, of leading audio book publisher W.F. Howes, will tell the tale of how audio books are made.

Gordon Griffin has recorded over 500 audio books and has won numerous awards including the Golden Earphone Award for his narration of “The Lost Army of Cambyses” by Paul Sussman. He has been an actor for in excess of forty years and has appeared in rock musicals and Shakespearean drama, and is also one of the voices warning tube travellers in London to “mind the gap.”

Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “This is the latest in our series of After Hours events which give people the chance to get even more benefit from Bath & North East Somerset Council’s libraries outside of their normal opening times. Gordon’s talk should offer some great insight and anecdotes on the art of producing audio books – many of which can be picked up from your local library.”

The event is free but spaces are limited so anyone interested in attending is advised to reserve a ticket by popping into Midsomer Norton Library on the High Street, next to the Holly Court Arcade.
