Bath Guitar School has been invited to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest group of guitarists performing the Jimi Hendrix hit single ‘Hey Joe’.
Hot on the heels of their recent outstanding performance at the grand opening of the Two Tunnels cycle path, the Bath Guitar School Band, made up exclusively of students from the popular Bath-based guitar school, was asked to take part in the event in Bristol later this month.
The record attempt is to be held in the UK for the very first time and brings together guitarists from all over the world to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the annual ‘Thanks Jimi Festival’ in Wroclaw, Poland.
The guitarists are hoping to break the World Record of 7273 performing together at one time. The record was first set in 2003 by Leszek Cichinski when thousands of guitarists were in attendance at the festival in Poland.
Guitar school owner Richard Perkins said: “It’s fantastic to be asked to perform at an event like this. Not only is it a great opportunity for students to take part in a World Record attempt, but also a chance to celebrate the life and brilliance of guitar legend Jimi Hendrix.”
The event takes place on Saturday 27th April from 6pm at Dom Kombatanta SPK on St. Paul’s Road in Clifton, Bristol. Admission is free and players of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the record attempt.
