The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at the Guildhall as Bath & North East Somerset Council joins the national commemoration in support of the military community, both serving and retired.

Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday 30 June 2012 and, as part of the build-up, flags are flown in the United Kingdom, many from historic and iconic buildings and some by individual members of the general public who want to show their support personally.

Bath & North East Somerset Council will once again be raising its Armed Forces Day flag at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath at 10.30am on Monday 25 June during a special ceremony hosted by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Rob Appleyard.

Invited guests will include serving military officers, veterans and cadets from across Bath and North East Somerset.

The short ceremony will be marked by a bugler playing on the steps of the Guildhall as the flag is being raised.

Councillor Rob Appleyard, Chairman of the Council, said: “This is the fourth year we have held a flag raising ceremony and Bath & North East Somerset Council is pleased to be able to show support for our military community, both serving and retired, by proudly hosting this event.”
