The school choirs will perform a mix of festive carols old and new, such as “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “O Little Town of Bethlehem”. All tickets have been taken for the 5 December carol service, which will include readings and prayers from the pupils accompanied by the Council’s Music Service brass quintet.

The schools taking part from across Bath and North East Somerset are: Academy of Trinity; Bishop Sutton Primary; Chew Magna Primary; High Littleton CofE Primary; Longvernal Primary; Marksbury CofE Primary; Midsomer Norton Primary; Moorlands Junior; Peasedown St John Primary; Shoscombe CofE Primary; St Julian’s and Camerton CofE Primary; St Martin’s Garden Primary; St Mary’s Catholic Primary; Swainswick CofE Primary and Whitchurch Primary.

Councillor Nathan Hartley, (Lib-Dem, Peasedown), Deputy Leader of Council and Cabinet Member for Early Years, Children and Youth, said: “The annual Christmas carol service at Bath Abbey is a terrific highlight for all the children. Bath & North East Somerset Council is proud to organise the event which yet again promises to be a wonderful occasion with The Abbey packed out to hear these 800 talented children singing their hearts out and lifting everyone’s spirits.”

The Christmas Carol Service will also be supported by the Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council, Councillor Peter Edwards, who will give the final reading.
