This recipe has been kindly sent to us from Emily at Parker the Baker in the Guildhall Market.

You will need:

125g Unsalted Butter, softened
50g Caster Sugar
125g Plain Flour
Ground Nutmeg
Ground Ginger
Ground Cinnamon
Ground Cloves

What to do:

1. Preheat oven to 175°C (Gas mark 4) and line baking trays with parchment paper.

2. Cream the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy, add a pinch of each spice to taste, mix in the flour.

3. Roll out to about 1cm thickness and cut with a Christmas biscuit cutter, or cut freehand.

4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the shortbread starts to brown around the edge, then leave to cool and set.

5. Decorate and enjoy!

Be sure to visit Emily for all the lovely baking treats available and also their adjoining greengrocers!
