Essential resurfacing work on the A4 Keynsham bypass will get under way next month, Bath & North East Somerset Council has announced, ahead of more work next year

It will involve road closures, contraflow traffic, the suspension of parking and three-way traffic lights to Broadmead Roundabout and will start with Phase One at the end of September this year for three weeks with a second, larger phase planned for Spring 2018.

It follows the award of £2 million by the Government earlier this month in response to a joint bid by Bath & North East Somerset Council and Bristol City Council.

Councillor Mark Shelford (Conservative, Lyncombe), the Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport & Highways, said: “We will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum while this essential work is carried out. Undertaking full resurfacing now will both help save us money in the long-term and reduce the need for future repair works.”

Details of the scheme are being finalised and will be announced in due course.
